So i was in church yesterday as the sermon was going on then the Pastor, while speaking in confidence about the sermon, threw a question at the congregation. We all sat there bewildered as if he had just spoken in Greek or Latin. Then he shakes his head in disappointment and carries on with the sermon. Then it hits me, The Bible is available for all to read, the Pastor knew the things in the Bible not by sleeping and eating, but by investing his time into reading and research. Infact, I'm sure if you are to stop 10 random people and ask to see their phones you'll most likely find about 8 of them having a bible app. But the question we need to ask ourselves really is, Do we have the bibles for Sunday Church reading? or are we really reading regardless of the time of the week and finding truths out for ourselves?. There are so many promises in the bible and yet we're walking around in this world lost and hopeless. The Preacher said if we were to come to know and understand some of the truths our lives will be different and I cant help but to agree strongly with him. God gave us the bible to make our lives easier yet we take the 'easy way out' by not even investing time to read a passage or even apply the promises that will even be read to us on Sunday on that giant projected screen. It seems the only time we seem to be 'free' to read is during those 2 hours sitting in church on Sunday.
But let's be real here, I'm sure if we could have time to go watch a very anticipated football match, or some very exciting telenovela but do not have to even sit and open our bibles...who really loses?! God had done His part by trying to make life easy for you but you're too busy to make time to find it out. Yet we see someone walking around, who has come to make time to search, study and apply God's word to their lives and we think they're 'Super Beings' created from some supernatural stuff. Making time, reading and application is the only way we can GROW as Children of God. So unless you're 'comfortable' with walking in ignorance shake yourself loose from those lies and situations you've accepted as 'normal' and find some truths!! There is SO MUCH to be found in the Bible but laziness is just making us think we already know because we've heard it being read in church or at Sunday school but trust me, there is way more in that scripture or that text than you know.
The bible says in Hosea 4:6 that "My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge..." and Proverbs 3:13-18 reads "Blessed are those who find wisdom, those who gain understanding for she is more profitable than silver and yields better returns than gold. She is more precious than rubies; nothing you desire can compare with her. Long life is in her right hand;in her left hand are riches and honor. Her ways are pleasant ways, and all her paths are peace. She is a tree of life to those who take hold of her; those who hold her fast will be blessed."
So i urge you, Dear one, to MAKE TIME AND STOP BEING COMFORTABLE!!!! Grace is available when ever we ask for it. May God grant you the needed Grace.
Amen.
The Message Bible gives Proverbs 3:13-18 as
You’re blessed when you meet Lady Wisdom, when you make friends with Madame Insight. She’s worth far more than money in the bank; her friendship is better than a big salary. Her value exceeds all the trappings of wealth;nothing you could wish for holds a candle to her. With one hand she gives long life, with the other she confers recognition. Her manner is beautiful, her life wonderfully complete. She’s the very Tree of Life to those who embrace her.Hold her tight—and be blessed
Very interesting translation. Hold her tight and be blessed indeed.....
Very insightful. God bless you dear and grant you more insight into His word.
